A Pleasant Nine Months!
-by, Shobha De, Mid-day 2001
...contd. Of all the different
medical streams, I'd say gynaecology is the most demanding,
at least time time-wise (why do babies invariably arrive at
ungodly hours?). Those in the 'delivery business" (not
Vichare or DHL), have to be on call 24 hours of the day, come
hell or high water. Like the tide, babies wait for no man.
They make their entry into the world whenever there're ready
to - which, alas, is often at 3 am. And yet, all the gynaecs
present that night looked perfectly at ease - no dark rings,
no stress lines - and happy to let their hair down. Must
check: Were no babies born between 8 pm and 10.30 pm on August
29?
